Accessibility Statement for Keep Moving
Keep Moving is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all users. This Accessibility Statement explains the steps we take to support a wide range of access needs, including for disabled people, older people, and anyone using assistive technologies. It covers the main Keep Moving area as well as related content and services that are in our direct control.
Our commitment to accessibility
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1, at Level AA. These guidelines are internationally recognised standards for making digital services more usable and accessible. We regularly review our design, content, and technical implementation to maintain and improve compliance with these standards where it is within our power to do so.
Accessibility is considered throughout the design and development process for the accessible Keep Moving area. This includes how pages are structured, how information is written, and how interactive features behave. We aim to ensure that essential information and key tasks can be completed by as many people as possible.
Screen-reader support
The Keep Moving area is designed to work with common screen-reader software. We use clear heading structures to support quick navigation, and we aim to provide meaningful names for controls, buttons, and form fields so that they can be understood when read aloud. Images that convey important information are given text alternatives where appropriate so that the same content is available to people who cannot see the images.
We avoid relying on colour alone to communicate meaning and work to ensure that status messages and error notifications are announced correctly by screen readers where this is technically feasible.
Keyboard navigation
All core functionality in the accessible Keep Moving area should be available using only a keyboard. Users should be able to move through interactive elements in a logical order, typically using the Tab, Shift plus Tab, arrow keys, and the Enter or Space keys to select or activate items. Visible focus indicators are provided so users can see which element is currently selected.
We aim to avoid keyboard traps, where a user cannot move away from an element using the keyboard alone. Where complex components are used, we follow established keyboard interaction patterns as far as possible.
Compatibility and limitations
The Keep Moving area is designed to work with recent versions of widely used browsers and operating systems. While we aim for broad compatibility, there may be differences in how some assistive technologies interact with particular browser and device combinations. Some legacy technologies or highly customised setups may experience issues that we are not yet able to resolve.
There may also be content from third parties or systems that we do not control, which might not yet fully meet the same accessibility standards. We monitor issues where we can and seek to influence improvements over time.
Continuous improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We review feedback, run checks against WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria, and make improvements when we identify issues. As new features are added to the Keep Moving area, we assess their impact on accessibility and make adjustments as part of our development cycle.
Contact for accessibility requests
If you experience a barrier while using Keep Moving or need information in a different format, you can contact us through our usual customer support and feedback channels. When you get in touch, please tell us which part of Keep Moving you were using, what you were trying to do, and the type of assistive technology or device you use if relevant. This helps us understand the issue and work towards a solution.
We take accessibility requests seriously and will aim to respond within a reasonable time. Where we cannot fully meet a request, we will explain why and try to offer an alternative that provides equivalent access to the information or service, wherever possible.
